Funding and ACC information

JSI Psychology is an Approved ACC Service Supplier, supporting clients and referring professionals with access to appropriate psychological assessment and care pathways.

We understand that funding, referrals, and assessment processes can feel complex. This page has been created to provide clear information about available funding options, ACC-related services, and referral pathways for clients, general practitioners, psychologists, counsellors, and other healthcare professionals.

Whether you are seeking support through ACC, WINZ, Gumboot Friday, private health insurance, or another funding pathway, our aim is to help make the process as clear and accessible as possible.

Approved ACC Service Supplier

JSI Psychology is an Approved ACC Service Supplier. This means that eligible clients may be able to access certain psychological assessment and support services through ACC-approved pathways.

ACC-related services may include psychological assessments, sensitive claims-related support, functional assessments, diagnostic assessments, and other ACC-approved assessment pathways where appropriate.

If you are unsure whether your situation falls within an ACC-funded pathway, you are welcome to contact us or speak with your case manager, GP, counsellor, psychologist, or other referring professional.

Assessment Services for Referring Clinicians

JSI Psychology provides a range of ACC-funded psychological assessment services for referring clinicians and organisations.

These may include:

• Sensitive Claims assessments
• Functional assessments
• Diagnostic assessments
• ACC-approved psychological assessment pathways
• Assessment support for treatment planning
• Psychological reports where appropriate

Referrals are welcome from ACC, general practitioners, psychologists, counsellors, and other healthcare professionals.

Our aim is to provide clear, professional, and clinically appropriate assessments that support both the client and the referring professional in understanding the client’s needs, presentation, and recommended next steps.

WINZ, Gumboot Friday and Other Funding Pathways

ome clients may be able to access funding support through WINZ, Gumboot Friday, or other community-based funding options. These pathways are often dependent on eligibility criteria, availability, and approval from the relevant provider.

Where applicable, clients may wish to explore support through:

• WINZ, Work and Income
• Gumboot Friday
• Southern Cross
• NIB
• Partners Life Health Insurance
• Other private health insurance or funding providers

Clients are encouraged to check directly with their funding provider or insurer to confirm whether psychological services, assessments, or related support may be covered under their plan or funding arrangement.

Private Health Insurance

Some private health insurance providers may offer cover for psychological services, depending on your policy and level of cover. This may include partial reimbursement or funding for certain services.

As each insurance provider has different requirements, clients are encouraged to contact their insurer directly before booking to confirm:

• Whether psychological services are covered
• Whether a referral is required
• Whether pre-approval is needed
• What documentation may be requested
• Whether assessment services are included in the policy

Referral Information

Referrals can be made by ACC, general practitioners, psychologists, counsellors, and other healthcare professionals. When making a referral, it is helpful to include relevant background information, the reason for referral, funding pathway details where applicable, and any supporting clinical or case information.

This helps ensure that the referral is directed appropriately and that the assessment or support process can begin as smoothly as possible.

For Clients

If you are a client seeking support and are unsure which funding pathway may apply to you, you are welcome to contact JSI Psychology for guidance. While we cannot guarantee funding approval, we can help clarify the type of service required and advise what information may be useful when speaking with your funding provider, insurer, case manager, or referring clinician.

For Referring Professionals

If you are referring a client for ACC-funded assessment services or other psychological assessment pathways, please provide as much relevant information as possible so that the referral can be reviewed appropriately.

Referrals may relate to sensitive claims, functional needs, diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, or other ACC-approved assessment requirements.

Our approach is professional, respectful, and client-centred, with a focus on providing clear assessment information that supports appropriate care planning and decision-making.
